RUMBA

Description

This is the final workshop on new concepts and approaches in Neuroimaging that was initiated by a Study and Research Grant from the McDonnell foundation to the Rutgers University Mind-Brain Analysis (RUMBA) Centers. The first was held at Rutgers at Newark, New Jersey, the second in conjunction with NIPS in Whistler, Canada, and this final year again with NIPS in Whistler. The topics and themes have been far ranging and foundational concerning the analysis, interpretation and modeling of neuroimaging data of all types (fMRI, PET, EEG, MEG, etc..). New methods of multivariate analysis and dimensionality reduction have been explored by participants as well as the underlying nature of the signals themselves. Concerns about standard statistical frameworks (e.g. GLM) have been raised as well the normative interpretation of ROI analysis and its computational implications. Throughout all three workshops there has been a focus on Model based approaches that brings more theoretical commitment either in terms of signal structure or cogntive neuroscience. The workshop stresses interactivity amoungst particpants and speakers.

Call for Participants

Researchers wishing to participate are encouraged to submit abstracts describing their research, we hope to have a number of open slots. Submissions for workshop presentations must be received by Friday, November 15th, 2002, and should be sent to jose login at psychology.rutgers.edu. Abstracts should be in plain text, postscript, or pdf format and at most 2 pages in length.
